Shadow, Ice, & Wind

October 2025

Shadow (what is in the depths of our psyche): Judgment (reversed): In the depths of our subconscious we know it’s time to step up and into our truth. Excuses, distractions, and perceived limitations have caused us to stagnate and fear what can only be viewed as the inevitable: a releasing and surrendering of stories and patterns that are no longer protecting us, but are now holding us back.

Ice (what is meant to be still): The Hermit: In Winter’s starkness, we’re offered the opportunity to step away from the noisy world that bombards our senses and seek shelter in the solitude of our personal sanctuaries—not in the caves of mountains, but in our homes. The hermit invites us into a different kind of stillness. An internal quieting that activates the unconscious mind. Our minds, like the season of winter, are governed and ruled by the element of air. When our minds are clear, our thoughts become sharp, rich, and spirited.

Wind (what is meant to be carried away): King of Cups: As the months progress and we inch towards Imbolc (February 1st) and the return of the light, ice melts and gives way to flowing, rushing water. We begin to feel the ache for creative expression, and a natural releasing of pent up and stifled emotions. This King rules with stability and groundedness in the midst of emotional swelling and ebbing.

A black and white illustration titled "The Tower" depicting a tall, burning tower with a clock and a lightning bolt striking top. Two people are falling from the tower, one with a hand pointing upward, against a starry night sky with clouds.
Illustration of a person doing a yoga pose, standing on one leg with arms behind, against a night sky background with clouds, stars, and moon, framed as a tarot card labeled 'THE HANGED MAN' upside down.
A tarot card titled "Ace of Pentacles" featuring a hand holding a pentacle with a pentagram and stars on it, set against a cosmic background with clouds and stars.

The season’s reading begins with The Hanged Man reversed—many opportunities have been presented to you these past weeks (possibly even the past few months) of ways to change and shift the situation you’ve found yourself in, but you’ve stubbornly refused to look at the alternatives—deeming them too unlikely or flat out impossible.  Sometimes the impossible is exactly what needs to be done.  In order to break free from the cycles of insecurity, doubt, and the sense of barely surviving when your entire being wants to thrive, you have to let go and let god.  The Tower card is here to shake and dislodge everything that has been stuck, drawing you down, and holding you back. It is necessary.  An imperative to reach your ultimate goal: overcoming the fear and anxiety—signified by the inverted Ace of Pentacles—that has been stifling your growth, tamping your physical wellbeing, and hindering you from your most vibrant, joyously effulgent self.  Thriving is your birthright…this eclipse portal is the perfect time to embrace it.
